It is also known as Mohr's salt. It is categorized as a double salt of Ferrous Sulfate and Ammonium Sulfate because it contains two distinct cations, Fe 2+ and NH 4+ . This salt is a common laboratory reagent and is a preferredsource of Ferrous ions in analytical chemistry because of its extended shelf life and resistance to oxidation. Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate, 0.050N solution is prepared by mixing 19.6 grams in 20 mL Sulfuric Acid and making a 1L solution by adding purified water.
