Details
Potassium Chromate Lab Grade
Potassium Chromate, also known as Bipotassium Chromate, Potassium Chromate(VI), Dipotassium Monochromate, and Chromate of Potash, appears as a yellow crystalline powder having a disagreeable bitter taste. It is soluble in Water but insoluble in Alcohol and Acetone at ambient conditions. Primarily, it is a Potassium salt having Potassium and Chromate ions in a 2:1 ratio. When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of Chromium. On a lab scale, Potassium Chromate can be synthesized by reacting Potassium Dichromate with Potassium Hydroxide or Potassium Carbonate. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity like the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, or the FCC Grade. The Lab Grade is also known as Laboratory Reagent (LR) and Chemically Pure (CP). Potassium Chromate, Lab Grade is recommended for educational institutes, research labs, and commercial applications.
