Potassium Nitrate Powder, USP/ACS/FCC Grade
Potassium Nitrate, also known as Nitre, Nitrate of potash, Nitric acid potassium salt, and Saltpeter, has the chemical formula KNO 3 . It appears as odorless white to dirty gray hygroscopic granules or crystalline powder and is soluble in Water at ambient conditions. It possesses a saline pungent taste. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Nitrogen Oxides and Dipotassium Oxide. A USP/FCC Grade chemical is the one that conforms to the criteria of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC). A substance that has received the USP/FCC Grade certification can be used in food, drug, or medical applications.
