Sodium Metabisulfite, also known as Sodium Disulfite, Sodium Pyrosulfite, Sodium Metabisulphite or Sodium Pyrosulphite, Disodium Disulfite, and Natrium Pyrosulfit, has the chemical formula Na 2 S 2 O 5 . It appears as white to yellowish crystals or powder with a slight sulfur odor. It is soluble in Water, Alcohol, and Glycerol at ambient conditions. Purified Grade, also known as Pure or Practical Grade, refers to those high-purity compounds that do not fulfill the ACS, the USP, or the FCC grade requirements. They are mostly used in conjunction with Lab Grade chemicals.
