Lead Chromate, also known as Chrome Yellow, Lead (II) Chromate, and Plumbous Chromate has the chemical formula PbCrO 4 . It appears as a yellow, orange, or red-colored, odorless, crystalline powder. It is an inorganic compound that emits Chromium fumes upon heating. It is insoluble in Water at ambient conditions. It is prepared by reacting Sodium Chromate with Lead Nitrate, or by reacting Chromic Acid with Lead Monoxide. On changing the concentrations of reactants, Lead Chromate or Lead Chromate Oxide can be produced. Due to its high purity Lead Chromate is highly recommended for commercial and analytical applications.
