Phenol Red Indicator, 0.02%

Phenol Red, also known as Phenolsulfonphthalein, Fenolipuna, and Sulfonphthal, has the chemical formula C 19 H 14 O 5 S. Phenol Red Indicator, 0.02% Solution is a pH indicator that changes color from yellow ( pH 8.2). It appears as red liquid (neutral pH) and is soluble in Water at ambient conditions. Phenol Red Indicator, 0.02% Solution, Lab Grade contains ~0.02% by weight of Phenol Red Sodium Salt dissolved in ~99.98% by weight of deionized Water. Chemically pure or Laboratory reagents are the two terms often used to describe Lab Grade chemicals. Lab Grade chemicals do not meet any accepted quality or purity requirements such as the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, and the FCC Grade, despite their acceptable purity. Due to its high purity, Phenol Red Indicator, 0.02% Solution, Lab Grade is highly recommended for labs and commercial applications.

Phenolics are active ingredients in some household disinfectants. They are also found in some mouthwashes and in disinfectant soap and handwashes. Phenol (carbolic acid) is one of the oldest antiseptic agents. Phenols are used as antiviral agents in the treatment of HIV. Phenol has good penetrating power into organic matter and is mainly used for disinfection of equipment or organic materials that are to be destroyed (eg, infected food and excreta).
