Details

Buffer Solution, pH 7.0, Coded Yellow

A buffer solution has the capability to resist change in its pH upon the addition of acid or base in a small quantity. It possesses a working range of pH values and capacity that dictates its stability before any change and the amount by which it will change. It usually consists of a weak conjugate acid-base pair. This pair might contain a weak acid and its conjugate base, or a weak base and its conjugate acid. The choice of the pair is simply dependent upon the desiredpH when preparing the buffer solution. Buffer Solution, pH 7.0, Coded Yellow is a combination of Dihydrogen Potassium Phosphate (0.7 wt.%), Sodium Hydroxide (0.1 wt.%), FD&C Yellow No. 5 (0.0-0.02 wt.%), and purified Water (balanced). It is color-coded yellow for easy identification and appears as an opaque liquid at ambient conditions.
