Mercurous Chloride Powder Lab Grade

Mercurous Chloride, also known as Mineral Calomel (a rare mineral), Dimercury Dichloride, Mercury(I) Chloride, appears as yellowish-white or dense white odorless hygroscopic powder or solid having the chemical formula Hg 2 Cl 2 or Cl 2 Hg 2 . It is insoluble in Water and highly toxic that is able to readily decompose into metallic Mercury and the very poisonous Mercuric Chloride on exposure to sunlight or if heated in the presence of moisture. It can be prepared by sublimation of Mercury-Mercuric Chloride mixture or by precipitation from a Mercurous Chloride solution.

Chemically pure or Laboratory reagents are the two terms often used to describe Lab Grade chemicals. Lab Grade chemicals do not meet any accepted quality or purity requirements such as the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, and the FCC Grade, despite their acceptable purity.
