Barium Sulfide, also known as Barium polysulfide, Polybarit, and Neopol is an inorganic compound having the formula BaS. It appears as a black odorless solid at ambient conditions. This Barium salt is a key precursor to other Barium compounds due to its moderate solubility in water and acid. It is mainly used to produce pure hydrogen sulfide. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity like the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, or the FCC Grade. The Lab Grade is also known as Laboratory Reagent (LR) and Chemically Pure (CP).
