Potassium Citrate, USP/FCC Grade
Potassium Citrate, also known as Potassium citrate tribasic, Potassium dihydrogen citrate hydrate, and Tripotassium citrate, have the chemical formula C 6 H 5 K 3 O 7 or C 6 H 5 K 3 O 7 -H 2 O. It appears as odorless white hygroscopic crystals or white crystalline powder and is soluble in Water at ambient conditions. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of potassium oxide and hydrogen bromides. A USP/FCC Grade chemical is the one that conforms to the criteria of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) and the Food Chemicals Codex (FCC). A substance that has received the USP/FCC Grade certification can be used in food, drug, or medical applications.
