Details

Lab Grade Heptane contains different isomers of heptane, such as n-Heptane and iso-Heptane. It is a straight chain alkane- a hydrocarbon with no special functional group- and is derived from gasoline. It appears as a clear or colorless liquid with a petroleum-like odor at room temperature. It is the main constituent of gasoline and used as a standard for the octane rating of fuels. It is certified as laboratory-grade due to the presence of impurities. Lab grade chemicals possess reasonable purity, but do not comply with any official standard for quality or purity. Owing to its grade, it cannot be used in food items and medicines .

Heptane, Lab Grade is a straight chain alkane, which means a hydrocarbon with no special functional group. It carries CAS 142-82-5 and comes as a clear or colorless liquid with a petroleum type odor at room temperature. It’s also used as a standard for the octane rating of fuels. As the name says, this is lab grade. That means reasonable purity, but it doesn’t follow any official standard for quality or purity, so it can’t be used in food items or medicines. You’ll find the paperwork on this page under Product Manuals: the Safety Data Sheet, the Technical Data Sheet, Certificates of Analysis for recent lots, and statements covering allergens, BPA, non irradiation, PFAS and PFOS, and TSE and BSE.

Heptane works as a non polar solvent. It also shows up as an adhesive remover, as a fuel source, and in the manufacture of rubber cement and ink, plus everyday research lab work. Here’s the catch. The wrong grade or missing paperwork can throw off your results, and finding a supplier who ships the right size isn’t always easy. That’s where we come in. Your plan is simple. Choose a size, set up Autoship if you reorder often, or request a quote for bulk and case orders. On budget, on time, every time.
